The temperature does tend to drop from September – October, layered clothing is recommended also pack a rain coat as rain is usual in the North at this time of year. In the South the weather is usually warmer but rain can occur.
The sun will go down sooner like the UK and the clocks also go back at the end of October.
It is quieter than the summer but still October is a popular month to visit.
The average temperature in the North is between 7-18 C (44 -54 F)
The average temperature in the South is between 19-23 C (66-74F)
The average temperature in Central Italy is between 13-23C (56-71F)
Flights are usually cheaper at this time of year.
In the ‘fall’ ‘autumn’ in Italy foods around are truffles and wild mushrooms, grapes (wine), chocolate. There are a few music and food festivals held and opera and theatre season.

World pasta day is 4th sunday in October.
Torrone (nougat) festival.
Rome film festival.
